Cesar Montano - don't fool us

The movie Ligalig was released for DVD rental this month here in the US. I was able to see it over the weekend. I was really disappointed. It's a shame for him and wife Sunshine to claim that he came up with this story. He copied the whole thing from a French movie i saw last year titled 'HIGH TENSION". It was released here in the US as DVD rental movie. I wish Cesar would have just made the movie but should have advertised it as a copy then i would not be very upset and disappointed in him. Oh boy, it's really a shame. I hope someone would be able to send this message to him. I guess, he thought no one would see the French movie and went on claiming he came up with this story.

Review :

An effective spoof of the Men-In-Black genre.

After reading a slew of reviews that trashed this movie, I decided to watch the movie and judge for myself. Apparently, what I watched significantly differed from what these other reviewers had seen. This movie is obviously a spoof on the Men-In-Black movies, with Jeff Bridges reprieving his Rooster Cogburn role, this time in a character named Roy, with highly amusing results. Indeed at times Bridges performance is hilarious as he and his sidekick Nick bicker and exchange taunts and insults when not destroying "Deadies" who have escaped back to earth. Although Ryan Reynolds co-stars, Bridges dominates the movie. His performance is so strong that he overshadows every other cast member in the movie. Although some of the special effects are cheesy and most of the story is hokey and contrived, such as the love interest between Nick and his wife which really stretches literary license to the limit, the movie nevertheless is engaging and keeps the audience's attention. This is the case because despite his gruffness, Roy is an engaging character. Mary Louise Parker and Kevin Bacon perform wonderfully in supporting roles, with Parker demonstrating a talent for dead-pan humor and Bacon playing a bad guy with much effectiveness. Furthermore, the movie ends on an upbeat note, with the two main characters having resolved the interpersonal issues that had initially strained their relationship. Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds work well together; also, Bridges sings two songs, revealing an excellent singing voice. If one is expecting a sci-fi classic, you will be disappointed. But if one is expecting a well-crafted comedy that will keep you entertained, then you will be gratified.

Review :

Action packed and intelligent techno-thriller

This movie was recently released on dvd in England by Hong Kong Legends. I had seen the movie before on VCD but I can say without reservation that HKL have done a great job with it's debut on DVD.

For fans of Hong Kong action cinema or viewers bored by the usual brainless Hollywood shoot-em-ups this film should make for a good evenings entertainment.

Debatably one of the worst movies i've ever seen

If you have too much time at your disposal/are a great fan of Ajith/close associate of Perarasu, you might risk watching this flick..

Movie begins with Typical Perarasu type slapstick comedy and sentiments.. The intro Sequence of Ajith is a bit too hard to digest though.. Sadha by the way she was meant to be our lead lady doesn't have an enviable role here, and hardly comes for a couple of scene's including song sequences!! Just when you would imagine that you have possibly gone through the worst part of movie, Writer/Director Perarasu has still a trick or two portray in his kitty!! One such typical scene is when he switches to the other side of the Camera and starts bashing up Henchmen.. Whoaa.. Man was that the Scene of the movie!!! I don't remember much otherwise and not worth remembering too..

Bottomline/Verdict :: If you love sarcasm, laughing during sentiment scene's and crying during comedy sequences, this is the Movie to watch out forAnd for that matter any Perarasu Movie
